First, an assessment
It's important to understand that other conditions can cause “classic” endometriosis symptoms. Your first appointment with us will therefore involve a detailed assessment of your condition – so that we can identify the right treatment for you.
At your first visit you’ll see Sanjay Vyas. He’ll review any treatment so far, together with your current symptoms, and carry out a physical examination, with a pelvic ultrasound scan to look at your ovaries. The goal is to find the root cause of your pain (endometriosis or otherwise) and we sometimes carry out other tests, such as swabs for infection. Following this assessment, he will discuss the treatment options with you.
Sanjay’s colleagues, Consultant Colorectal Surgeon Alan Roe or Consultant Urologist Frank Keeley, may also review your case if your bladder or bowel are affected - and they’ll perform surgery together with Sanjay if required.
Consultant Gynaecologist Valentine Akande, who has expertise in the treatment of subfertility, may also review women who have endometriosis and have difficulty in falling pregnant.
